Light Up Indianola in 2020!!!!
With the pandemic, so much has been cancelled and we all could use some joy and celebration!
The Indianola Hometown Pride team invites you to light up the town more than ever before! We would like to invite you to create “holiday lanes” and are looking for neighborhoods that would be interested. The more lanes we have, the better!
HOW DO I CREATE A “HOLIDAY LANE?”
- Talk to your neighbors and agree to all decorate your homes this year!
- Come up with a name and/or theme for your lane.
- Contact us and we will promote your lane to the community so that everyone can come and visit.
You can contact us on the Indianola Hometown Pride’s Facebook page @indianolahometownpride, or email us at email@example.com.
If you need help organizing your neighborhood, we are happy to help! Just shoot us a message.
WHAT’S A “HOLIDAY LANE?”
A holiday lane simply refers to a block or street that has many homes in a row decorated with lights and other decorations. Check out the pictures at the end of this post.
WHAT’S THE PURPOSE OF DOING HOLIDAY LANES?
We want to encourage as many people as possible to light up their homes, whether it’s in a big way, or just a small string of lights on the front porch. By encouraging neighbors to work together, we feel that more people will be inspired to put up decorations. By designating “lanes” full of lights, residents and visitors can find areas with the most decorations and get a lot of Christmas cheer in a short drive!
WHEN IS THIS HAPPENING?
There is no specific date for the holiday lanes, but we will start promoting them at the beginning of December once most people have their lights up.
We would encourage everyone to have their decorations up by December 7th so that you can also participate in the “All is Bright” contest on December 11th – see below!
HOW DO I SIGN UP?
To participate in the “holiday lanes,” all you have to do is contact us on Indianola Hometown Pride’s Facebook page @indianolahometownpride, or email us at firstname.lastname@example.org with the name and location of your “lane.”
MORE HOLIDAY FUN: ENTER THE “ALL IS BRIGHT” CONTEST
After you sign your neighborhood up for a “holiday lane,” you should also consider joining the “All is Bright” lighting contest, run by the Indianola Tour of Homes committee. They are doing a lighting contest for individual houses or small groups of homes. Your $10 entry fee goes right back to the community.
