Light Up Indianola Again – 2021!!!

The Indianola Hometown Pride team has once again invited our community to light up the town! Indianola neighborhoods have created holiday lanes, where neighbors coordinate to all decorate along a theme. You can go out and see the decorations any night in December, leading up to Christmas.
All lanes are entered in a contest competing against the other holiday lanes in town. More details below on the contest.
Also this year: A contest for the best Decorated Business for the Holiday Season!
WHAT’S A “HOLIDAY LANE?”
A holiday lane simply refers to a block or street that has many homes in a row decorated with lights and other decorations. Check out the Holiday Lanes of 2020 at the end of this page for examples!
WHAT’S THE PURPOSE OF DOING HOLIDAY LANES?
We want to encourage as many people as possible to light up their homes, whether it’s in a big way, or just a small string of lights on the front porch. By encouraging neighbors to work together, we feel that more people will be inspired to put up decorations. By designating “lanes” full of lights, residents and visitors can find areas with the most decorations and get a lot of Christmas cheer in a short drive!
WHEN IS THIS HAPPENING?
The entire month of December! A map is provided on Indianola Hometown Pride’s Facebook page and at the top of this web page. We also will be providing paper maps at several businesses here in town.
HOW DO I CREATE A “HOLIDAY LANE?”
The holiday lanes are already set for 2021, but if you want to start thinking about doing this in 2022 for your neighborhood, here’s what you’ll do:
- Talk to your neighbors and agree to all decorate your homes this year!
- Come up with a name and/or theme for your lane.
- Contact us and we will promote your lane to the community so that everyone can come and visit.

HOW DO I SIGN UP?
We are not longer adding new lanes for 2021, but keep this in mind for 2022! To participate in the “holiday lanes,” all you have to do is contact us on Indianola Hometown Pride’s Facebook page @indianolahometownpride, or email us at ihometownpride@gmail.com with the name and location of your “lane.”

- Fan Favorite Lane ( To be voted on by the community on Indianola Hometown Pride’s Facebook page)
Also, we will select a winner for Best Decorated Home amongst all the lanes AND the Best Decorated Business for the holidays!
